THIS LOFT, LOCATED IN THE ELECTRA BUILDING, DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO’S TALLEST RESIDENTIAL TOWER, STANDS 43 STORIES TALL AND IS AN EASY BUILDING TO SPOT IN THE COLUMBIA DISTRICT ON THE CORNER OF KETTNER BOULEVARD AND BROADWAY. THE CLIENTS WERE LOOKING FOR A PIED-A-TERRE THAT WOULD BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY’S HUSTLE AND BUSTLE, WHILE ALSO BEING A CALM SANCTUARY.

THE CHALLENGE WAS TO INCORPORATE DIFFERENT LIVING AREAS IN A SMALL SQUARE FOOTAGE WITH THE ABILITY TO DOUBLE THE FUNCTION OF SOME SPACES. M.A.P. INTERIORS FULLY EXPLOITED THE SMALL FLOOR PLAN’S POTENTIAL, DOUBLING THE OFFICE AS A GUEST BEDROOM, AND THE DINING AREA AS A WORK AREA.

THE DESIGN OF THE LOFT IS YOUNG AND CONTEMPORARY WITH A MID CENTURY MODERN VIBE AND AN EMPHASIS ON COMFORT AND WARM MATERIALS. THIS WAS ACHIEVED BY COMBINING MODERN CLASSIC FURNITURE WITH CONTEMPORARY PIECES USING A MONOCHROMATIC COLOR PALETTE ACCENTUATED WITH SPLASHES OF COLOR FROM ACCESSORIES.  THE SOFT COLORS IN THE BEDROOM PROVIDE A TRANQUIL RETREAT FROM THE BUSTLE OF THE CITY OUTSIDE.
