THE CLIENT, A WORLD TRAVELER FROM BRAZIL, WANTED TO MAKE HIS SMALL SPACE APARTMENT NEAR THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA - SAN DIEGO A SHOWCASE FOR HIS ART AS WELL AS A SPACE FOR ENTERTAINING LARGE GROUPS.
THE CHALLENGE WAS TO CREATE AN EFFICIENT USE OF SPACE WITHOUT SACRIFICING STYLE AND COMFORT. TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, THE OPEN SPACE LIVING AREA WAS DIVIDED INTO TWO ENTERTAINMENT SPACES. THE FIRST IS A DINING SPACE WHICH MAKES USE OF A SMALL NOOK FOR A BUILT-IN BAR. THE SECOND IS THE LIVING SPACE WHICH CONSISTS OF A LONG SOFA AND CHAIR FOR MORE INTIMATE OCCASIONS, WHILE OFFERING BENCH SEATING AND A CONVERSATIONAL AREA ON THE OUTDOOR BALCONY FOR LARGER CROWDS.
M.A.P. INTERIORS CHOSE A GRAY, GOLD, AND ORANGE COLOR PALETTE TO ACCENTUATE THE CLIENT’S COLLECTION OF ASIAN ART AND ARTIFACTS IN THE LIVING SPACE. THE BEDROOM BOASTS A CALMING, DREAMY BLUE WHILE HIGHLIGHTING A MORE CONTEMPORARY STYLE.
